3.1.4 Mechanical Adjustments
Optical Head Unit
The polarization plates (R/G/B) are factory-aligned. Do not apply any mechanical
stress to the polarization plate, and do not loosen the screws. If the alignment is
modified, color divergence will occur, and the color images will not be clear.
Prism Unit
To synthesize the light output from each polarization plate (including R/G/B light
valves), the prism unit (concurrent with the polarization plate) is aligned in the factory.
If the alignment is modified, pixel divergence in R/G/B synthesizing and in the projector
lens unit causes out-of-focus images and non-uniform color.
Caution: Do not loosen the prism unit mounting screws.
Light Guide Unit
The components of the light guide unit are factory-aligned. If the alignment is modified,
clear images cannot be produced, because the brightness or chroma is not uniform on
the screen.
The lens array and mirrors are aligned in the factory to support the best display
performance of the light guide unit. If the alignment is modified or the location is
changed, the display screen may be distorted.
Caution: Do not disassemble the light guide unit. If you remove the upper guide
cover from the unit, the alignment of lenses or mirrors may be changed or
dust may stick to the unit. Since the projector requires precise adjustment, it
cannot be adjusted in the field.
